Chillicothe, Ohio — U.S. Rep. Dave Taylor (R-Ohio) took to the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives on July 16, 2026, to recognize Jana Detty, a longtime McDonald’s employee from Chillicothe who recently retired after 50 years of service.
In his remarks entered into the Congressional Record, Taylor praised Detty as “a treasured member of our Buckeye community” and celebrated her storied career at the local McDonald’s on Western Avenue.
Detty began working at the restaurant while studying at Hocking Technical College (now Hocking College) with aspirations for a career in medical records. She started as a crew member after a neighbor who managed the location encouraged her to apply. Over the decades, she advanced through the ranks to become human resources manager in 2009.
Taylor highlighted Detty’s personal qualities and community impact: “Jana is known for her kindness and commitment to excellence. She also demonstrated her leadership by raising over half a million dollars for charity to provide a home away from home for families of children undergoing serious medical treatments.”
“Mr. Speaker, southern Ohio is proud to call Jana one of our own,” Taylor stated. “We thank her for her years of dedication to our community and congratulate her on her retirement.”
The recognition comes as Detty concludes a half-century tenure that made her a familiar and respected figure among Chillicothe families. Local reports note her start in 1976 and her positive influence in the community.
