A Laurelville woman previously indicted on felony charges was taken into custody Monday after a warrant issued earlier this year was served by the Ross County Sheriff’s Office. Showing the Arresting Officer as Sgt. Shears.
Karley Ann Hinton, 33, of Laurelville, was booked into the Ross County Jail at approximately 9:37 a.m. on July 20. Jail records show she was initially held on a warrant, and later transferred into the custody of the Montgomery County jail system while remaining housed for Ross County.
According to Ross County Common Pleas Court records, Hinton was indicted on May 1, 2026, on two felony counts:
- Tampering with Evidence, a third-degree felony.
- Aggravated Possession of Drugs, a fifth-degree felony.
Court records show prosecutors requested the arrest warrant on the same day the indictment was filed, and the warrant was issued to the Ross County Sheriff. The docket reflects that the warrant was served on July 20.
Following her arraignment, Hinton entered a recognizance and the court ordered pretrial supervision. A pretrial conference has been scheduled for August 17, 2026, at 2:45 p.m. before Judge Matthew S. Schmidt.
The charges remain pending. As with all criminal cases, the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
