Veterans Day Week: What's Happening in South-Central Ohio, Nov. 8-14

Veterans Day falls Wednesday, Nov. 11, and it anchors the week: the Chillicothe VA holds its annual ceremony, Jackson County lays a wreath at its Veterans Memorial Park, Bright Local schools host a veterans breakfast in Highland County, and veterans eat free at Bob Evans. Our readers’ veterans tribute publishes Tuesday, Nov. 10. Saturday, Nov. 14, stacks up in Chillicothe with a Pink Floyd laser show at the Majestic, the First Capital Bourbon Festival, and downtown’s 2nd Saturday, with library programs running across Ross and Scioto counties all week for Nov. 8–14.

Veterans Day, Wednesday, Nov. 11

Ross County | CHILLICOTHE: Chillicothe VA Medical Center Veterans Day Ceremony. Wednesday, Nov. 11, ceremony at 11 a.m., Building 9 Auditorium, Chillicothe VA campus, 17273 State Route 104. Doors open at 10 a.m. with refreshments and live music, and VA resource vendors will be on hand. Navy veteran Gil Esparza, founder of Warriors on Wheels, is the keynote speaker. Why it matters: It is the largest Veterans Day observance in our coverage area, and it is open to veterans, families, and the public.

Highland County | MOWRYSTOWN: Bright Local Schools Veterans Day Breakfast and Programs. Wednesday, Nov. 11. Veterans breakfast at Whiteoak High School at 7:30 a.m., followed by the high school program at 8:30 a.m.; Bright Elementary holds its program at 10:15 a.m. Veterans and their families are invited.
