Vinton County Sheriff's Office Plans Shop With a Cop, Fueled by a Classic Rock Fundraiser

The Vinton County Sheriff’s Office is planning a Shop With a Cop event at the Jackson Walmart this Christmas season, so that as many Vinton County children as possible can shop for Christmas gifts alongside local law enforcement officers.

To pay for it, the sheriff’s office first has to raise the money. A classic rock fundraising concert, Classic Rockin’ for Shop With a Cop, is set for Saturday, November 28, 2026, at Park’s Edge Event Center, 601 E. Main Street in Jackson. Pure Rock 98.7’s Suzy Waud and the crew from Porter’s Place are teaming up with the community for the night, and advertising for the concert begins at the start of November.

Local businesses can sponsor the concert at five levels: Rock Legend at $5,000, Headliner at $2,500, Rock Hero at $1,000, Roadie at $500, and Groupie at $250. Sponsorship perks include event signage, Pure Rock radio mentions, social media recognition, stage recognition during the evening, and event tickets.

The sheriff’s office is partnering with United Way of Vinton County, so sponsorship contributions may be tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Businesses that do not want to commit to a listed level can still donate, and any amount helps.
