The Pike County Sheriff’s Office has released the incident report behind the case against Andrew Elijah Henderson, and it describes a January night when shotgun fire tore through the back window of a car carrying three men on Beaver Ridge Road, striking one of them in the head.
We first reported on Henderson on October 19, when he was booked into the Fayette County Jail, held for the Pike County Sheriff’s Office with no bond, on attempt and felonious assault charges. Pike County has no jail of its own, so its inmates are housed in surrounding counties. At that time, few details of the case had been released. The report, released this week, fills in what deputies say happened.
According to the report, on Sunday, January 11, 2026, at about 3:08 a.m., deputies were sent to Beekman Ridge Road on a shots fired call. The three men told deputies that one of them had gotten into a physical altercation with Henderson earlier that night at a bar in Beaver, and that Henderson had sent him threatening messages on Facebook, including references to shooting him. Screenshots of the messages were turned over to deputies, the report says.
The men said they were riding in a red Toyota Corolla on Beaver Ridge Road when a red Chevrolet Silverado came toward them, passed, stopped, and Henderson leaned out of the driver’s window and fired a shotgun through the rear window of their car. The man in the back seat ducked down. The front seat passenger was struck in the forehead and in the left side of his ribs with shot, and an ambulance took him to Adena Pike Medical Center to be checked.
Deputies photographed the car with its back glass shattered and found a shotgun wad on the back floorboard and damage to a headrest. At the shooting scene, in the 4800 block of Beaver Ridge Road, a deputy recovered three spent 20 gauge shotgun casings and pieces of glass.
The next night, January 12, deputies went with a search warrant to a home on Gleason Road and learned from Henderson’s father that he was at a home on New Fain Road. Henderson was arrested there without incident. A search of that home turned up a Remington 870 20 gauge shotgun hidden in a closet behind shirts, loaded with shells similar to the casings found at the scene, according to the report. The shotgun and the truck were seized as evidence.
In an interview at the sheriff’s office, Henderson said the argument had been going back and forth over Facebook messages and a fight at the bar that night, according to a captain’s supplement in the report. When confronted with the evidence, he said he had gone to Beaver Ridge Road looking for the other man and claimed the men banged on the hood of his truck, so he fired his shotgun into the air to protect himself. He did not admit to shooting into the car. The supplement says Henderson then wrote out a letter of apology to the man who was shot and to his family.
Deputies sent the spent shells to the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation for DNA testing. In April, BCI reported back that the DNA profile from the shells was not of sufficient quality for comparison because of insufficient data, the report says.
The report lists the offenses as attempted aggravated murder, a first-degree felony, and felonious assault, a second-degree felony, and says Henderson was booked on three counts of attempted murder and three counts of felonious assault. Pike County Common Pleas Court does not publish an online docket, so upcoming hearing dates are not available to check online.
Charges are allegations, and Henderson is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court. We will update this story as the case moves forward.
