Six Years On, Waverly Man Raymont Willis II Is Still Missing

Raymont Earl Willis II of Waverly vanished in July 2020, and he has never been found. This week, the Pike County Sheriff’s Office released the first report ever filed in his case, and it shows a file that is still open more than six years later.

On Saturday, July 11, 2020, at 3:47 p.m., a Pike County deputy was sent to a home on Johnson Hill Road in Waverly on a missing person report. The initial incident report, number 20-2214, is short. It logs that call, names Willis as the missing man, and lists the case clearance as “Investigation Pending.”

Along with the report, the sheriff’s office released seven photos of Willis so readers can see the face investigators have been working with. The office withheld its investigative notes and other case records, saying they qualify as confidential law enforcement investigatory records under Ohio law. In plain terms, the case is still treated as an active investigation, not a closed file.

Willis was 42 when he disappeared, days after a multi-agency task force searched his Johnson Hill Road home on July 1, 2020, on drug trafficking suspicions, according to coverage from that time. His friend Koby Roush disappeared the same week. Roush’s remains were found in Gallia County in March 2023. A man who had allegedly confessed involvement in both disappearances died of an overdose before investigators could fully question him, according to earlier reporting. Willis was not found with Roush, and nothing released this week says where he went after that July.
