Amanda Dawn Nelson, 41, is back in custody at the Ross County Jail after she was taken into custody, with the arresting officer listed as Jacob JoHansen, on a bench warrant stemming from a felony case in Ross County Common Pleas Court.
According to jail records, Nelson was booked into the Ross County Jail shortly after midnight on June 25. She is being held on a $100,000 cash or surety bond following the execution of a bench warrant. The warrant was served by the Ross County Sheriff’s Office after she allegedly failed to appear for a scheduled court hearing.
Court records show Nelson was originally indicted in January on charges of Tampering with Evidence, a third-degree felony, and Aggravated Possession of Drugs, a fourth-degree felony.
Following her arraignment in February, Nelson was released on her own recognizance, meaning she was allowed to remain out of custody while awaiting future court appearances under conditions set by the court.
However, records indicate Nelson did not appear for a scheduled plea or trial setting on April 13. The following day, the court issued a bench warrant for her arrest.
That warrant remained active until June 25, when deputies located and arrested Nelson. Court records show the bench warrant has since been returned, and Nelson appeared before the court later that day on the warrant.
Her case has been reopened, and a new plea or trial setting is scheduled for July 27 in Ross County Common Pleas Court.
As with all criminal cases, the charges against Nelson are allegations, and she is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
