CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A 20-year-old woman wanted on an aggravated menacing charge connected to the investigation of a July 31 shooting on East Main Street in Chillicothe has been taken into custody.
According to a Chillicothe Police Department report, officers were dispatched to the 700 block of East Main Street shortly after 11:20 p.m. on July 31 for a reported shooting. Investigators were told that a confrontation involving several individuals had occurred outside a residence and that a gunshot was fired during the incident.
While investigating the shooting, officers also spoke with a 25-year-old woman who reported receiving threats from Sahkiya Dawn Martin, 20.
According to the police narrative, the woman told officers that Martin had allegedly messaged her after several individuals showed up at the residence. She reported that Martin threatened to “put a bullet between her eyes.”
The woman told police she believed the threat was credible because of what had just occurred and said she feared for her safety. According to the report, when she returned to the conversation in an attempt to preserve the messages, Martin had allegedly deleted them.
At the conclusion of the initial investigation, Chillicothe Police stated that a warrant would be requested for Martin on a charge of aggravated menacing.
Martin was taken into custody on August 12 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and booked into the Ross County Jail. Current jail records show she is being held on the aggravated menacing warrant with a $10,000 cash or surety bond.
Another individual was arrested following the original shooting investigation and accused of improperly discharging a firearm at or into a habitation or school.
The charges against Martin are allegations, and she is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
