FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ohio — A Columbus woman was booked into the Franklin County jail Thursday after authorities served a bench warrant stemming from a traffic case dating back more than two years.
Savannah Marie Wampler was booked into the James A. Karnes Correction Center on August 14, according to Franklin County jail and court records.
The underlying case dates to March 30, 2024, when Wampler was cited by the Ohio State Highway Patrol following a traffic stop on Interstate 70 westbound near milepost 95.
Court records list charges of driving under suspension for failure to appear/pay child support, operating a motor vehicle without a valid license, and failure to register/expired tags.
The case was filed in Franklin County Municipal Court on April 3, 2024. Records show an arraignment was initially scheduled for April 15 and later continued to May 17.
On May 20, 2024, the court issued a bench warrant for failure to appear. The docket indicates the warrant remained outstanding until August 14, 2026, when it was served and the case was reopened and reassigned.
Jail records also list an OVI/drugs/alcohol charge associated with a separate 2026 case. Bond had not yet been set on the jail listing at the time the record was viewed.
In the reopened 2024 traffic case, Wampler is scheduled for a continued arraignment on August 15 at 10 a.m. in Franklin County Municipal Court.
The charges are allegations, and Wampler is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
