MANSFIELD, Ohio. The Ohio State Highway Patrol says Sergeant Tyler Carr of the Mansfield Post has died after an off-duty traffic crash.
The Patrol announced the death Thursday night on its official account. “It is with great sorrow that the Ohio State Highway Patrol announces the off-duty death of Sergeant Tyler Carr of the Mansfield Post, who passed away following a tragic traffic crash today,” the agency wrote. “Our thoughts are with Sergeant Carr’s family and the Patrol family as a whole.”
Mansfield station WMFD reported that the Patrol’s statement also named the Mansfield Post, the Bucyrus District, and the Patrol family. The Mansfield Post is in Richland County. It sits in the Patrol’s Bucyrus District.
The Patrol said Carr was off duty. It did not say where the crash happened, what time it happened, what kind of vehicle was involved, or whether anyone else was hurt. Those details were not in the announcement.
This is a developing report. Heritage Headlines will update it if the Patrol releases more.
Some sites have already published a location and a vehicle type. The Patrol has not confirmed either, so they are not in this story.
