McDonald’s is offering a free Double Cheeseburger on Friday, Sept. 18, 2026, in recognition of National Cheeseburger Day.
The promotion is available exclusively through the McDonald’s app for MyMcDonald’s Rewards members at participating restaurants. Customers must make a minimum purchase of $1 (excluding tax) to redeem the free Double Cheeseburger. The offer is limited to one per person and does not apply to delivery orders. Taxes may still apply.
In a statement shared with People magazine, McDonald’s said: “Since burgers are kind of our thing, we’d love for fans to come in and grab their favorite McDonald’s drink, snack or meal and add a Double Cheeseburger to celebrate the holiday with us!”
The Double Cheeseburger features two beef patties, American cheese, pickles, onions, ketchup and mustard. Availability can vary by location, so customers should confirm participation through the app before visiting.
National Cheeseburger Day falls annually on Sept. 18. Similar promotions have appeared in past years, though details change. This year’s free Double Cheeseburger requires the app and Rewards membership. Other chains are also running limited deals that day, but McDonald’s offer centers on the free item with the modest purchase threshold.
