CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A call for assistance with a lockout ended with an arrest Monday after Ross County deputies discovered the person requesting help had an outstanding warrant.
According to a Ross County Sheriff’s Office report, Deputies JoHansen and Weaver responded to Health Drive in Chillicothe on September 15 for a reported lockout. During the call, deputies determined Christopher L. Pinkerton had an active warrant and took him into custody.
Chillicothe Municipal Court records show the warrant stemmed from a 2024 misdemeanor public indecency case. Pinkerton was charged under Ohio Revised Code 2907.09, a second-degree misdemeanor, following an alleged September 22, 2024 incident.
Court records show probable cause was found on September 23, 2024, with bond set at $1,000 at 10%. A warrant was subsequently issued on September 25, 2024.
More than a year later, what began as a request for help with a lockout ultimately resulted in Pinkerton’s arrest on the outstanding warrant.
All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
UPDATE: Court records show the public indecency case was dismissed without prejudice on September 16, 2026, with the court noting that the officer was no longer available. The costs were assessed to the state, and the defendant’s remaining bond was ordered refunded. Because the case was dismissed without prejudice, the dismissal does not necessarily prevent the charge from being refiled if legally permissible.
