Columbus Police Use Drones in Response to Barricaded Suspect on Timberwood Drive

Columbus, Ohio — Columbus police and SWAT personnel responded Tuesday afternoon to a report of a barricaded suspect inside a home on Timberwood Drive West.

According to real-time police scanner monitoring, SWAT personnel on scene confirmed the individual inside the residence had a butcher knife. Negotiators attempted to communicate with the suspect but had received no response as of early afternoon.

Drones were deployed to gain visual access inside the house. Scanner updates indicated one drone entered the home and confirmed the kitchen was clear while moving toward the living room. Another update described drone footage showing the suspect sitting inside the front door area.

In the latest updates around 1:14 p.m., officers planned to knock on the door after observations suggested the suspect appeared to be unarmed at that time. Nearby apartments were cleared as a precaution during the response.

No injuries have been reported.

The address associated with the incident was updated during the response to 1006 Timberwood Dr W. The situation remained active as of approximately 1:18 p.m. on June 23, 2026.
