What happens next in a Columbus courtroom will decide a case that, on paper, began six years ago.
Nkrumah Nkansah, 27, was listed for felony arraignment Monday in Franklin County Municipal Court on a first-degree felony rape charge in case 2020 CR A 003915, at the grade alleging threat of force, according to court records. A second case was before the court the same morning, a fifth-degree felony theft by deception charge from 2024 in case 2024 CR A 011177, listed under Worthington jurisdiction.
The arraignment sheet gives no facts about the underlying allegations and identifies no other person, and it does not say why a case numbered in 2020 appeared on Monday’s felony arraignment list. Franklin County Sheriff’s Office records give his full name as Nkrumah Amoh Nkansah and show he was arrested November 1, 2026, and booked into the Franklin County Corrections Center at James A. Karnes (booking 20261101035), with bond not set on the listed charges as of his courtroom 4D appearance.
Nkansah is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court. Felony cases filed in municipal court are typically presented to a Franklin County grand jury, which decides whether to issue an indictment and move the case to the Court of Common Pleas.
Heritage Headlines is seeking the earlier court filings in this case and will update readers as more is confirmed.
