Chillicothe Woman Kicked Officer During Domestic Incident Arrest

A Chillicothe woman was arrested Sunday afternoon following a reported domestic disturbance on North Brownell Street, according to the Chillicothe Police Department.

Police were dispatched around 4:20 p.m. on May 3 to a residence in the 49 block of North Brownell Street regarding an active domestic dispute. Responding officers reported encountering 20-year-old Brooklyn Renee Dennis, who was allegedly highly intoxicated and acting disorderly inside the home.

According to the police report, officers observed Dennis yelling, cursing, and acting irate while holding a small infant in her arms. Officers stated family members were eventually able to take the child from her after repeated warnings to calm down and comply with commands.

Police allege that after being informed she was under arrest, Dennis began pulling away, thrashing, and kicking one of the officers in the stomach. Officers then escorted her to the ground and placed her in handcuffs.

Authorities said Dennis continued resisting while being transported to the Ross County Jail and allegedly attempted to spit on officers, leading deputies to place a spit mask on her.

Dennis was charged with:

  • Persistent Disorderly Conduct while Intoxicated
  • Resisting Arrest

The investigation remains ongoing.

As with all criminal cases, the charges are merely allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law
