CHILLICOTHE MAN BACK IN CUSTODY AFTER BEING RELEASED OWN-RECOGNIZANCE, MORE CHARGES FILED

A Chillicothe man is back in custody at the Ross County Jail after authorities served a bench warrant connected to a pending felony drug case.

According to Ross County Common Pleas Court records, 26-year-old Leevi S. Haskins was originally indicted in February on one count of aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony.

Court records show Haskins was arraigned on February 24 and later released on an own-recognizance bond, by Judge Michael Ater, with pre-trial supervision and random testing conditions. However, the court issued a bench warrant on April 6 after Haskins allegedly failed to appear for a scheduled hearing. The court also revoked his bond at that time.

Records indicate the warrant was served on May 6 by Chillicothe Police Officer Joshua Wright.

Jail records show Haskins is currently being held in the Ross County Jail on charges including possession of drugs, obstructing official business, and resisting arrest. His listed bond is $50,000 cash or surety.

A bond hearing was held May 7, and the case is now scheduled for a criminal status conference on May 26 in Ross County Common Pleas Court.

As with all criminal cases, the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
