A 25-year-old Chillicothe man was booked into the Ross County Jail following a domestic violence investigation that police say began after an argument over sex escalated inside a Toledo Street residence.
According to a Chillicothe Police report, officers responded to the home shortly before 4 a.m. on July 11. While en route, dispatch advised that the children’s father was reportedly assaulting the caller. Upon arrival, officers observed Ryan Whitley fleeing from the rear of the residence and pursued him on foot before locating him hiding near an excavator on Columbus Street.
Investigators said Whitley’s girlfriend told officers she had been in bed with their children when Whitley questioned her about having sex. She reportedly declined, leading to an argument that intensified throughout the home.
Police reported finding food thrown across walls and floors, multiple holes punched in walls, and a microwave that had allegedly been thrown outside into a children’s pool. The woman told officers she attempted to leave the residence to allow Whitley to calm down, but later returned to gather the children.
According to the report, as she was walking down the stairs, Whitley allegedly threw her car keys at her, striking her in the right thigh. Officers reported observing redness and swelling consistent with her account. The woman also alleged that Whitley swung a punch at her but did not make contact.
Two young children were reportedly inside the home during the incident. Officers described them as emotional when police arrived.
Police ultimately charged Whitley with Domestic Violence and Obstructing Official Business after allegedly fleeing from officers upon their arrival. Jail records show he was booked into the Ross County Jail at approximately 4:25 a.m. on July 11.
The charges are allegations, and Whitley is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
