A young child called 911 Monday afternoon and told dispatchers someone inside a home may have died, prompting Columbus police to find a man and a woman dead in separate rooms on the city’s east side.
Officers were sent at 4:49 p.m. to the 2800 block of Bannon Court. Medics pronounced both adults dead shortly after 5 p.m. The child was still at the residence when police arrived. Columbus Police Sgt. Joseph Albert said the two victims appeared to have been in a domestic relationship. Neither showed signs of gunshot wounds, and investigators do not believe gunfire was involved.
Police said they are not looking for suspects and there is no threat to the community. Albert said it is too early to describe the deaths as a murder-suicide. Investigators also confirmed there had been no prior calls for service to the home. The victims’ identities have not been released, and homicide detectives are investigating. The Franklin County Coroner’s Office will determine the official cause and manner of death.
