CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio — The Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office announced Monday that Deputy Corey Hamlin is retiring after more than 31 years of service to the county.
Sheriff Matthew O. Hafey and the office staff congratulated Hamlin in a public statement posted on the agency’s official Facebook page. The office described his career as “faithful service to the citizens” of Pickaway County.
According to the sheriff’s office, Hamlin worked in multiple divisions during his tenure. Those assignments included corrections, court services, the patrol division, and school resource deputy.
“We wish him the best in his retirement,” the office said.
The Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office is based at 600 Island Road in Circleville, the county seat. Sheriff Matthew O. Hafey leads the agency. Official directories from the Ohio Attorney General’s Office list Hafey as the elected sheriff.
Local coverage earlier this year identified a Deputy Corey A. Hamlin, then 54, as a Pickaway County sheriff’s deputy who was injured while investigating a crash on U.S. Route 23 in Harrison Township on Dec. 31, 2025. That report, based on an Ohio State Highway Patrol crash document, said he was expected to recover. The sheriff’s office retirement announcement did not reference any specific incident.
Pickaway County school districts that partner with the sheriff’s office for school resource officers include Circleville City Schools, Logan Elm Local Schools, Teays Valley Local Schools, and Westfall Local Schools. The sheriff’s office statement did not specify which district or districts Hamlin served as a school resource deputy.
