President Donald Trump hosted cryptocurrency, finance and technology executives at the White House on August 19, 2026, ahead of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission’s first Innovation Advisory Committee meeting.
In remarks, Trump said the United States is ensuring it remains “the undisputed leader not only in Bitcoin and crypto, but also technologies like prediction markets, artificial intelligence, and much more.” He stressed the need for clear rules so innovators can operate confidently in the U.S. rather than move abroad.
Key points from the event included:
• Praise for ending prior regulatory pressure on crypto and related technologies.
• Support for the GENIUS Act on dollar-backed stablecoins and a strategic Bitcoin reserve.
• A call for Congress to pass a “fair version” of the Clarity Act to provide lasting market structure and keep the U.S. ahead of competitors including China.
• Recognition of CFTC Chairman Michael Selig and SEC Chairman Paul Atkins for their roles in the sector.
Attendees included leaders from Coinbase, Robinhood, Kraken, Intercontinental Exchange, Nasdaq, Ripple, BitGo and Chainlink, among others. Prediction-market firms were not part of the gathering, which focused on crypto and broader financial technology.
The CFTC Innovation Advisory Committee met the following day to discuss emerging technologies, including crypto assets, artificial intelligence and prediction markets.
