Texas Roadhouse in Grove City: Friendly Service, Uneven Rolls, 2.5 Cacti

Editor’s note: This is a single-visit opinion review. The writer paid for the meal. Food quality, smell, and the rating are the writer’s experience on Oct. 7, 2026, not a health inspection and not a claim about other visits.

GROVE CITY, Ohio. A Hopewell Heritage Headlines writer took his family to Texas Roadhouse on Wednesday night, Oct. 7, 2026. The restaurant is at 4155 Parkway Centre Drive. The company lists the phone as (614) 539-7427 and Wednesday hours as 3 to 10 p.m.

For a Wednesday, the dining room was fairly steady. Seating was immediate. Parking was in the front row.

The first impression outside was not a good one. There was a putrid smell near the entrance, strong enough to make this writer gag. In his description, it smelled as if someone had defecated outside and it had not been located. That is his impression of the odor. He did not see a source, and this review does not claim one.

The rolls, then the plates

Inside, the famous rolls missed. In this writer’s experience at Texas Roadhouse, that had not happened before. The first batch was undercooked, borderline doughy, and not browned. A second batch arrived later and was closer to the usual standard, but still lacking.

He ordered sweet tea and the 4-piece catfish, with a loaded baked potato. The sweet tea was good. The catfish was not fried well and was overall lacking. He noted that ordering catfish at a steakhouse was his own choice. The baked potato was really good. The seasoned rice was much better than he remembered from earlier visits.

His wife ordered the 8-ounce sirloin and a Diet Coke, also with a loaded baked potato. She said the steak was cooked more or less where she wanted it, and that her sides were good. There were no complaints from the macaroni-and-cheese and fry side of the table. A toddler ate and enjoyed that food.

The same toddler enjoyed the line dancing by the servers. That set off a short family debate about how long a job at Texas Roadhouse would last this writer. The concluded answer was not very long, after watching how fast the server was moving.

Service and the check

The server was Miah. She was great: friendly, with drinks refilled and plates cleared without unnecessary interruption.

The check for three guests was $52.83 before tax and $57.06 after $4.23 in tax. For eating out right now, that landed in the average range, as odd as that still feels. Looking back, the writer said the night could have been better with an alcoholic drink added.

Heritage Headlines rates this visit 2.5 cacti out of 5. Service, parking, the steak, the potato, the rice, the tea, and the kids’ food carried the meal. The outside smell, the rolls, and the catfish pulled it down.
