Readers asked the useful question after Councilman Richard McQuirt’s photos from the old paper mill: how do you apply, and what is the pay?
Public boards this week listed openings for U.S. Medical Glove Company LLC at 232 E. 8th St. Two name an hourly rate. One does not. Ads expire, so check that the posting is still open.
McQuirt said five lines are making medical gloves for two federal contracts, five more machines are being converted for surgical gloves, and the site has FDA approval for food-grade gloves. Company updates this spring put glove work at about 150 people, on two shifts. A plant official said in March that almost everyone who came back from the paper mill was making the same or more than before. The company has not posted a full wage scale.
