A Ross County woman previously sent to prison on felony drug convictions is back behind bars after being booked into the Ross County Jail on new charges and a parole holder.
According to jail records, Joyce A. Gibson, 43, was booked into the Ross County Jail on June 11. She is currently being held on charges of Obstructing Official Business, a second-degree misdemeanor, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a fourth-degree misdemeanor. Records also show a parole holder was lodged against her.
State prison records show Gibson was admitted to the Ohio Reformatory for Women on June 20, 2024, following convictions in Pike County for drug possession offenses. The Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction lists Gibson as being under Adult Parole Authority supervision and, prior to her return to custody, classified her as a “Violator at Large.”
According to ODRC records, Gibson was serving an aggregate prison sentence of three to four-and-a-half years. Her parole eligibility date was listed as March 24, 2026, with a maximum sentence expiration date of September 18, 2026.
While the parole holder and state records indicate supervision-related issues, the exact circumstances that led to Gibson being designated a violator at large and subsequently returned to custody were not immediately available.
The new charges remain pending in court. All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
