A man with a lengthy history in the Ross County court system is once again facing criminal charges, this time in Scioto County.
Jeremiah R. Bellomy, currently listed as a Portsmouth resident, was booked into jail at approximately 2:46 a.m. on June 17 on a charge of Receiving Stolen Property. Jail records show the charge was filed under Ohio Revised Code 2913.51.
According to Portsmouth Municipal Court records, Bellomy was charged with Receiving Stolen Property, a fourth-degree felony. The complaint was filed by a Portsmouth Police Department officer, and the case was entered into court on June 17.
While the new charge originated in Scioto County, Bellomy is a familiar name to many in Ross County. Court records show he has appeared in numerous criminal cases over the years in Ross County courts, making the latest felony filing another chapter in an extensive local criminal history.
Ohio law prohibits a person from receiving, retaining, or disposing of property when they know or have reasonable cause to believe the property was obtained through a theft offense. The court records reviewed do not provide details regarding the property involved or the circumstances that led to the charge.
As with all criminal cases, the allegations remain accusations, and Bellomy is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
The case remains pending in Portsmouth Municipal Court, where additional hearings are expected as the matter moves forward through the judicial process.
