ATHENS, Ohio | An Ohio University student was found dead Monday afternoon inside a residence hall on the university’s Athens campus, prompting an investigation by Ohio University Police.
The student was identified as Mason Bohm, who was a resident of McDavis Hall.
According to police, Bohm died at approximately 4:30 p.m. Monday, September 14, inside McDavis Hall. Authorities have not released additional information about the circumstances surrounding his death.
Police said there is no known threat to the safety of the university community at this time.
Police investigation underway
Ohio University Police Department is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding Bohm’s death.
Investigators have asked anyone who recently interacted with Bohm or may have information that could assist the investigation to contact Ohio University Police.
As of Tuesday, authorities had not publicly released a cause or manner of death. No information indicating foul play or a criminal act has been publicly announced.
That distinction is important as the investigation remains active. Until investigators and the appropriate authorities complete their work, the circumstances surrounding the death should not be assumed or speculated upon.

The death occurred inside McDavis Hall, one of Ohio University’s residence halls.
