COLUMBUS, Ohio — Michael Wells was arraigned Saturday in Franklin County Municipal Court on a murder charge in connection with the Oct. 4 shooting at Prime Ultra Lounge that killed 39-year-old Jeffrey Amaker.

Wells, who surrendered to Columbus police earlier this week according to the Columbus Dispatch, faces one count of murder and one count of felonious assault, a second-degree felony. The case number is 2026 CR A 017105.

The Dispatch reported the surrender but said no court date had been set as of Oct. 9. Saturday’s arraignment in courtroom 4D is the first court appearance in the case.

A check of Franklin County Common Pleas records shows no open Common Pleas case yet, meaning the matter remains at the municipal court arraignment stage before a likely bind-over.

Wells is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
