MAJOR DRUG SEIZURE DURING SCIOTO COUNTY TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO TWO ARRESTS

SCIOTO COUNTY, Ohio — Two individuals were arrested following a traffic stop in West Portsmouth that resulted in a major drug seizure as part of an investigation by the Southern Ohio Drug Task Force in coordination with the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

According to officials, the stop occurred at approximately 7:39 p.m. on April 6, 2026, on State Route 104 after troopers initiated a traffic stop for violations.

During the stop, probable cause was established to search the vehicle, which led to the seizure of approximately:

803 grams of suspected methamphetamine 27 grams of suspected fentanyl 6 grams of suspected crack cocaine

The estimated street value of the seized drugs is $35,960.

Arrested were:

Randy Stevens, 56, of West Portsmouth Jessica Darby, 28, of Portsmouth

Both were charged with:

Trafficking in Drugs (F1) Possession of Drugs (F1)

Both individuals were booked into the Scioto County Jail and were scheduled to appear in Portsmouth Municipal Court.

The case is expected to be forwarded to the Scioto County Prosecutor’s Office for presentation to a grand jury, where additional charges may be considered.
