A trooper who has spent his whole career at the Jackson Post is moving to Portsmouth with a promotion.
Benjamin J. Wallace was promoted to sergeant on September 20 and has transferred to the Portsmouth Post, where he will serve as assistant post commander. He was recognized Friday at a ceremony at the Ohio State Highway Patrol Training Academy in Columbus.
Wallace began his Patrol career in September 2011 as a member of the 151st Academy Class and earned his commission in February 2012, when he was assigned to the Jackson Post. He stayed there for his entire career as a trooper.
Along the way, he was named Post Trooper of the Year once, earned the Criminal Patrol Award 11 times and the Ace Award for excellence in auto larceny enforcement twice, and was designated a master trooper in 2024.
Wallace graduated from Shawnee State University in 2009 with a degree in biology.
