The 119th Circleville Pumpkin Show took over downtown Circleville last week, Oct. 21 through Oct. 24. Streets closed, the midway went up around the courthouse, and for four days the whole town ran on pumpkin donuts. We walked the grounds on opening morning. Here is some of what we saw.

The $150 pumpkin
The longest early line on Wednesday was not for food. It was for Jack Pine Studio’s hand-blown glass pumpkins, including the America 250th edition at $150 each, with a limit of two per buyer. Sales of the special pumpkins benefit veterans.
One woman in line was not happy about the two-pumpkin limit. Then she thought about it and decided the limit was a good rule after all, because it meant she would get one. Asked what she was standing in line for, she said: “The most expensive pumpkin you’ll ever buy.”

The week around the show
Show week kept the town busy beyond the midway. Circleville police warned residents about counterfeit Pumpkin Show passes being sold online. A missing Circleville boy was found safe after a search near the rides. And on Friday, the governor’s race came to town, as Vivek Ramaswamy and the Republican statewide ticket rallied in Circleville in the middle of show week.

The show has packed up until next October. If you took photos during the week that you would like to share with readers, send them to info@heritageheadlines.com with your name, your town, and a line about the picture.
