Columbus Man, 32, Charged With First-Degree Felony Aggravated Robbery in Groveport Case

A first-degree felony aggravated robbery charge out of Groveport topped the Thursday felony arraignments in Franklin County Municipal Court.

Mekonen Getahun, 32, of Columbus, is charged in case 2026 CR A 018593 with aggravated robbery, according to court records. The arraignment sheet lists the case under Groveport jurisdiction and gives no account of the incident behind the charge, and no other person is identified in the court record.

Franklin County Sheriff’s Office records show Getahun was arrested on October 28, 2026, and booked into the Franklin County Corrections Center at James A. Karnes (booking 20261028014). Bond had not been set as of his arraignment in courtroom 4D.

Getahun is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court. Municipal court felony filings are ordinarily bound over for a Franklin County grand jury, which decides whether an indictment issues and the case moves to Common Pleas Court.
