CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A locally owned business is bringing a fresh approach to grocery shopping in downtown Chillicothe, offering residents an alternative to traditional supermarkets with an emphasis on natural foods, locally sourced products, and supporting small farms.
Foster Farmstead Marketplace, located at 14 W. Water Street, opened in early summer 2026 with a mission to provide healthier food options while strengthening connections between local farmers, producers, and the community.
The business traces its beginnings to 2021, when Foster Farmstead started with a goal of raising quality food, living a healthier lifestyle, and sharing those values with others. What began with selling products at the local farmers market eventually grew into something much larger

According to the business, conversations with local families revealed a growing desire for wholesome foods, responsibly sourced products, and healthier everyday options that were easier to access.
Those conversations ultimately helped inspire the opening of Foster Farmstead Marketplace.
The store offers a variety of products, including grass-finished beef, pasture-raised pork and chicken, organic dairy, fresh artisan breads, locally grown produce, specialty cooking ingredients, soups, broths, and gluten-free options.

One of the marketplace’s unique features is its zero-waste refill stations, where customers can bring their own containers or use containers provided by the store to purchase items such as flour, spices, granola, and tea. The concept allows shoppers to purchase the quantities they need while reducing unnecessary packaging and waste.
In addition to food products, Foster Farmstead offers an all-natural skincare line made from grass-finished beef tallow, along with kitchen tools, mason jars, and food preservation supplies.
The marketplace also emphasizes supporting small farms, local producers, and family-owned businesses by bringing their products together under one roof.
For the owners, however, the mission extends beyond simply selling groceries.
The business describes itself as a place created for Chillicothe by people who love the community and want to see it continue to grow.
“We wanted to make good food and healthier choices easier to find right here at home,” the business states on its website.
As downtown Chillicothe continues to welcome locally owned businesses, Foster Farmstead Marketplace represents another option for residents interested in shopping locally and learning more about where their food comes from.
Foster Farmstead Marketplace is located at 14 W. Water Street in Chillicothe and is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. The store is closed Sundays.
