COLUMBUS, Ohio — A 21-year-old woman was arrested Monday after Columbus police say she shattered the front door and windows of an apartment, causing approximately $1,000 in damage.
According to a Columbus Division of Police report, officers were dispatched to Southpark Apartments at 793 Canopy Place around 9 a.m. on August 11 after receiving a report that a woman had cut her finger on glass.
When officers arrived, they reported finding the front door and windows of the apartment shattered. Officers then made contact with Miangel Lajoy Channel Gray inside Apartment 1A and detained her.
The complainant reportedly told officers the damaged door would cost approximately $1,000 to repair. While officers were present, Gray was also advised that she was no longer permitted on the property.
Police contacted CPD Property Crimes detectives regarding the incident. Gray was subsequently arrested on a vandalism charge and transported to CPD’s Investigative Unit for an interview before being taken to the Franklin County Jail.
Franklin County Jail records list Gray as being held on a felony vandalism case. Jail records also show several additional misdemeanor cases associated with her booking, including receiving stolen property and multiple traffic-related offenses.
The police report additionally lists criminal trespass in connection with the August 11 incident.
Gray is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
