COLUMBUS — The kidnapping case against Braquan Brown of Columbus cleared its first court hurdle Friday, when Brown had a preliminary hearing in Franklin County Municipal Court.
Brown appeared in courtroom 4D on Oct. 9 on the first-degree felony kidnapping charge, case number 2026 CR A 016370, according to the court’s daily arraignment report. The charge alleges restraining another person’s liberty.
Kidnapping charged at the F-1 level is among the most serious offenses in Ohio’s criminal code.
No further details of the allegations were in the municipal court record Friday. Cases that clear a preliminary hearing in municipal court are typically bound over to the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas.
All persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court. This article will be updated as the case develops.
