Strangulation alleged to have caused serious physical harm is the charge against a 59-year-old Columbus man arraigned Monday in Franklin County Municipal Court.
Warren Winfield is charged in case 2026 CR A 018386 with strangulation, a second-degree felony, at the grade alleging serious physical harm, according to court records. Ohio law treats strangulation as a felony separate from assault because cutting off a person’s air or blood flow can cause serious injury. The court record does not describe the underlying incident and does not identify any other person involved.
Franklin County Sheriff’s Office records show Winfield was arrested on October 24, 2026, and booked into the Franklin County Corrections Center at James A. Karnes (booking 20261024039). Bond had not been set as of his arraignment in courtroom 4D.
Winfield is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court. The case is expected to go before a Franklin County grand jury, which will decide whether to indict and transfer it to the Court of Common Pleas.
