One person died after a two-vehicle crash Sunday morning on the Northeast Side of Columbus, according to Columbus police.

The crash happened around 10:50 a.m. on Sunday, November 1, near the intersection of Aberdeen Avenue and McGuffy Road.

Police said the first 911 call to the area was for an unknown disturbance and possibly a person who had been shot, but officers determined it was a two-vehicle crash.

According to police, a 2005 Dodge Dakota pickup truck traveling west on Aberdeen Avenue ran the stop sign at McGuffy Road and hit a 2012 Buick Verano. Both vehicles traveled across the road and into a yard.

Police said the driver of the Dodge tried to run on foot but was taken into custody. The driver of the Buick was taken to an area hospital and later died from their injuries.

Police have not released the names of the people involved.
