CIRCLEVILLE — A Circleville resident who was released from custody Tuesday reported two bags of clothing and a $30 drill missing from his home and asked officers to make sure no one was still inside, according to a police report.
Officer Verduga and Officer Irwin responded about 8:36 p.m. Sept. 15 to a home on Hayward Avenue. They cleared the residence and found no one inside.
The resident said probation officers arrested him at the home on Sept. 10 and that he was released Tuesday. After he went inside, he heard a noise that made him think someone might still be there. He said he did not see anyone but called police to confirm the house was empty.
He later noticed two bags of clothes and a drill valued at $30 were gone. He told officers that before his arrest, one bag had been beside his bed and the other had been in the kitchen near a side door.
A neighbor on Hayward Avenue told Officer Irwin that on Friday afternoon she saw a dark blue sedan parked in front of the residence. She said the car had damage to both the driver-side and passenger-side doors. She was not able to provide camera footage.
Officers obtained a witness statement and told the resident there was not enough information at the time to identify a suspect. The resident said he understood and that his main concern was making sure no one was inside the house.
The report lists the two bags of clothing and the drill as stolen. Officers noted no forced entry.
