Chillicothe Police Say Chillicothe Man Loomed Over/Threatened Woman Holding Infant During Domestic Dispute

A 23-year-old Chillicothe man was arrested Friday night after police investigated a domestic dispute on Washington Avenue that allegedly involved threats made toward a woman while she was holding an infant child.

According to a report from the Chillicothe Police Department, officers responded to the residence at approximately 9:51 p.m. on June 26. The investigation ultimately led to the arrest of Andrew Ryland Cunningham, who was charged with domestic violence under Ohio Revised Code 2919.25(C), a first-degree misdemeanor.

Police reported that while those involved initially stated no physical altercation had occurred, officers obtained additional information during their investigation. According to the report, a video provided to officers allegedly showed Cunningham standing over a woman who was holding an infant child while making threats to “smack,” “punch,” and spit on her.

A witness also reportedly told officers they overheard the threats during a phone call occurring at the time of the incident.

The report notes that Cunningham provided officers with a separate video that allegedly showed the woman throwing hangers in his direction from a porch. Cunningham told officers he was not injured during that incident.

Based on witness statements and the video evidence provided to police, officers determined there was probable cause for an arrest. Cunningham was taken into custody and transported to the Ross County Jail.

Jail records show Cunningham was booked into the Ross County Jail late Friday night on a domestic violence charge. As of the latest available records, he remained in custody.

The allegations contained in the police report have not been proven in court. Cunningham is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
