Chillicothe Man Charged With Aggravated Robbery After Grabbing Officers Gun During Arrest

CHILLICOTHE, OH — A Chillicothe man is facing multiple felony charges following a disorderly complaint that escalated into a violent altercation and struggle with officers on Ewing Street.

According to reports, officers were dispatched on March 8, 2026, to the area of 84 Ewing Street in reference to a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers made contact with a female who reported that her boyfriend, identified as Christopher Ramsey, had assaulted her, causing injury.

Officers were advised that Ramsey had fled the scene on foot before later being located inside a small blue vehicle nearby. When officers approached, Ramsey reportedly made erratic movements inside the vehicle and appeared to be under the influence of drugs.

Despite multiple commands to exit the vehicle, Ramsey initially refused to comply. Officers opened the door, at which point Ramsey exited and quickly moved toward officers in what was perceived as an aggressive manner. He was taken to the ground, where he continued to actively resist.

Authorities state Ramsey refused repeated commands to place his hands behind his back, pulled away from officers, and actively resisted throughout the encounter. During the struggle, Ramsey grabbed an officer’s firearm while it was still secured in the holster and also grabbed an officer’s Taser, escalating the severity of the situation.

Officers deployed both a Taser and OC spray in an effort to gain compliance. Ramsey continued resisting before ultimately being restrained.

During the altercation, officers reported sustaining minor injuries. Ramsey was also evaluated for injuries and later transported for medical clearance before being booked into the Ross County Jail.

Further investigation revealed additional allegations, including that Ramsey had grabbed a female victim in an alleyway and attempted to restrain her. Witness statements indicated the victim was able to break free and escape.

Ramsey has been charged with:

  • Aggravated Robbery (F1)
  • Unlawful Restraint
  • Obstructing Official Business
  • Resisting Arrest
  • Vehicle Trespass

He was ultimately booked into the Ross County Jail following medical clearance.

The investigation remains ongoing.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
