CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio. Pickaway County Prosecutor Jayme Hartley Fountain is the Republican nominee for the Fourth District Court of Appeals. Party chairs and secretaries from the 14 counties picked her Oct. 3, after five rounds of voting.
She replaces Judge Peter B. Abele, who died Sept. 25 at 69. He had been on the court since 1991 and was running unopposed. Ohio Revised Code 3513.31 lets the party committee name a replacement, and it lets Democrats name one too. The seat can be contested. Election Day is Nov. 3.
Fountain was an assistant prosecutor in Pickaway County for 18 years and was elected prosecutor in 2024. She graduated from Logan Elm, the University of Kentucky, and Capital University’s law school in 2006. The district covers Adams, Athens, Gallia, Highland, Hocking, Jackson, Lawrence, Meigs, Pickaway, Pike, Ross, Scioto, Vinton, and Washington counties.
