A long-term drug trafficking investigation in Pickaway County has resulted in the seizure of more than two pounds of suspected methamphetamine, nearly $900 in cash, and multiple arrests, according to the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Matthew O. Hafey said the investigation began after citizens reported suspected drug trafficking activity in the Circleville area. Detectives with the South Central Ohio Major Crimes Unit conducted surveillance and gathered evidence over an extended period.
On July 28, 2026, investigators stopped Andrea D. Crago, 44, of Circleville, for a traffic violation on U.S. Route 23 South near Little Walnut Road. During the stop, law enforcement reportedly recovered and seized just over two pounds of suspected methamphetamine along with $868 in cash.
Crago was transported to the Pickaway County Jail and charged with two counts of first-degree felony trafficking in drugs. She is currently being held on a $100,000 cash or surety bond while awaiting her preliminary hearing.
The following day, July 29, investigators executed a search warrant at a residence on Turner Drive in Circleville, where additional evidence was reportedly seized. During the operation, Rodney D. Crago, 48, was taken into custody on an outstanding child support warrant.
The sheriff’s office said the investigation involved assistance from the South Central Ohio Major Crimes Unit, Lancaster Police Department, Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office, Ohio State Highway Patrol, Circleville Police Department, and Circleville Fire & EMS.
Officials say the investigation remains active, and additional charges are expected after the case is reviewed by the Pickaway County Prosecutor’s Office and presented to a Pickaway County Grand Jury.
As with all criminal cases, the charges are allegations, and the defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
