A Cincinnati woman indicted on a felony charge involving the conveyance of drugs into a detention facility has been released from custody after appearing before a Ross County judge this week.
Ebony D. Weathington, 29, was arrested on June 2 by the Ross County Sheriff’s Office on an outstanding indictment warrant stemming from a Ross County Common Pleas Court case filed earlier this year. She was booked into the Ross County Jail later that afternoon.
According to court records, Weathington was indicted on one count of Illegal Conveyance of Drugs of Abuse onto the Grounds of a Detention Facility, a third-degree felony under Ohio Revised Code 2921.36. The indictment was filed on January 9, 2026, and a warrant for her arrest was subsequently issued.
Court records indicate the warrant was served on June 2, more than four months after the indictment was handed down.
During an arraignment hearing on June 3, Ross County Common Pleas Judge Matthew S. Schmidt ordered Weathington released on her own recognizance. Records show she was not required to post a cash bond to secure her release. As a condition of her release, the court ordered that she have no contact with the alleged victim or witness identified in the case.
While jail records initially showed Weathington was being held in the Ross County Jail, court records now reflect that she has been released pending further proceedings.
Her next court appearance, a criminal pre-trial hearing, is scheduled for June 29 at 2:45 p.m.
As with all criminal cases, the charge is merely an accusation, and Weathington is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
