One Woman Stabbed In The Face During Domestic Dispute in Chillicothe, Both Arrested

CHILLICOTHE, OH — Two women were arrested following a violent altercation that led to a stabbing on Laurel Street Sunday afternoon, according to the Chillicothe Police Department.

Officers were dispatched to the 600 block of Laurel Street on April 5, 2026, in reference to a reported stabbing. Upon arrival, officers located Stephanie Christina Poole, 39, suffering from a significant facial injury, including a cut lip that was split in two and active bleeding. She was treated on scene by medics and later transported to Adena Regional Medical Center.

Investigators determined the incident stemmed from a domestic dispute involving Kari Anne Poole, 40. According to reports, the altercation began as a verbal argument over an accusation of theft of a wallet and quickly escalated into physical violence.

Witnesses told police both women were actively engaged in the fight and equally responsible for escalation of violence.

Once physical witnesses say that Stephanie punched and assaulted Kari, breaking a glass jar over her head and from the reporters was being described to have the upper hand in the fight. The tables turned however when Kari Poole allegedly obtained a kitchen knife and stabbed Stephanie Poole in the face casing Stephanie to suffer injuries to her lip.

Officers made contact with Kari Poole inside the residence, where she complied with commands and was detained without incident.

Police also observed that Kari Poole sustained injuries consistent with the altercation, including marks on her neck and chest, a puncture wound to her shin, and a torn shirt.

Due to witness statements indicating mutual involvement in the fight:

Kari Anne Poole was charged with Felonious Assault (victim seriously harmed)

Stephanie Christina Poole was charged with Domestic Violence (knowingly causing physical harm)

Both women were transported to the Ross County Jail. Authorities noted the two are sisters.

Evidence collected at the scene included a knife believed to have been used in the incident, along with photographs documenting the scene and injuries.

Both individuals are expected to appear in court at a later date.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
