CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A local Chillicothe woman, Sydney Erin May, was taken into custody Sunday afternoon following large disorderly incident involving multiple individuals on Mechanic Street.
According to the Chillicothe Police Department, officers were dispatched to the area of Mechanic Street on April 5, 2026, at approximately 2:57 p.m. in reference to a disorderly complaint involving two groups engaged in an ongoing dispute.
Upon arrival, officers encountered multiple individuals arguing in the street. The situation reportedly stemmed from a prior altercation and ongoing tensions between the parties that allegedly took place at a bar years ago.
Officers on scene were attempting to gather information however those involved continued to engage in disorderly behavior prompting officers to warn the parties to cease and issued verbal warnings for disorderly conduct.
While officers were on scene, the confrontation continued, with individuals yelling, taunting, and engaging back and forth despite prior warnings. Officers observed Sydney Erin May in the roadway yelling and escalating the situation.
Due to continued behavior after being warned, Sydney Erin May was taken into custody and charged with disorderly conduct – persisting a misdemeanor in the 4th degree.
During the investigation, additional allegations were made that a firearm may have been involved earlier in the incident. However, officers were unable to locate a weapon, and no additional charges were filed at that time.
May was transported to the Ross County Jail and held in lieu of bond pending a court appearance in Chillicothe Municipal Court.
All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
