CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A woman wanted on a drug-related warrant was taken into custody Saturday after Chillicothe police responded to a suspicious-person complaint on North Mulberry Street.
According to a Chillicothe Police Department report, officers were dispatched to 72 North Mulberry Street shortly after noon on October 4. Officers made contact with 50-year-old Chasta Oberer, who reportedly told police she was at the residence retrieving belongings she had previously been allowed to keep there while working for the homeowner’s mother.
During the encounter, dispatch notified officers that Chasta had an active arrest warrant for possession of drugs through the Ross County Sheriff’s Office. The sheriff’s office confirmed the warrant, and Chasta was placed under arrest.
Police reported that during a search incident to the arrest, officers located a half-broken glass pipe inside Chasta’s bag. The report states the pipe was safely disposed of.
The homeowner then told officers he wanted Chasta barred from the property. Police advised Chasta of the request and documented that she had been barred from the North Mulberry Street residence.
Chasta was transported to the Ross County Jail, where she was booked and served with the warrant.
Jail records show Chasta remained listed in custody following the October 4 arrest, with possession of drugs listed in connection with the warrant.
The charge is an allegation, and Chasta is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
