CHILLICOTHE, Ohio: A 39-year-old woman was arrested October 15 after allegedly fleeing from Chillicothe police officers responding to a reported theft at a North Bridge Street gas station.

According to a Chillicothe Police Department report, officers responded to the Valero at 61 North Bridge Street after a woman was accused of stealing a cup of coffee. Officer Shelby Lott located Mercedes Deshoun Bouillion walking near Crispie Creme. Police say Bouillion ignored commands to stop and began running before being taken into custody following a brief foot pursuit.

During a search, officers reportedly discovered a glass pipe containing residue inside her purse. A records check also revealed an active warrant through the Adult Parole Authority.

Bouillion was transported to the Ross County Jail and booked on allegations of obstructing official business, drug paraphernalia possession, and the outstanding warrant. She was also advised that she was barred from returning to the gas station.

Police later determined the item involved in the original complaint was a cup of water rather than coffee, and no theft charge was filed.

All individuals are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
