Wingstop Is Putting Sour Patch Kids on Chicken. Would You Try It?

Wingstop has teamed up with SOUR PATCH KIDS for what might be the strangest wing flavor of the Halloween season: SOUR PATCH KIDS Wicked Punch.

The limited-time flavor is a sour-then-sweet redberry glaze topped with SOUR PATCH KIDS Bitz, small bits of the candy. It is not just for wings, either. Wingstop says the glaze can go on any of its chicken, including boneless wings, tenders, and the chicken sandwich.

The chain announced the flavor on Tuesday, Oct. 13. Club Wingstop rewards members get first crack at it starting Oct. 23, and it lands at participating restaurants nationwide on Oct. 27. It is only around through Nov. 5, while supplies last. Fans can order it through the Wingstop app or Wingstop.com.

Wingstop’s president and CEO, Michael Skipworth, admitted the idea sounds odd, saying one bite is all it takes to understand it. Early reactions online are split right down the middle: some people are already planning their order, and others say candy has no business on chicken.

Here is the catch for Ross County. As we reported back in July, a Wingstop is planned for Chillicothe on North Bridge Street, beside Mattress Firm, with an opening expected in late 2026. That means the Chillicothe store will not be open in time for this one. We also checked the rest of our coverage area: there is no Wingstop in Pickaway, Pike, Scioto, Gallia, Vinton, or Highland counties. The closest places to try Wicked Punch during its short run are the Wingstop locations in the Columbus area, including Canal Winchester, or up in Lancaster.
