CHILLICOTHE, Ohio: A customer at a gas station on East Main Street ran into one of banking’s most annoying glitches on Wednesday afternoon, October 14: the ATM showed the money coming out of the account, but the machine never dispensed any cash.
The customer made the disputed withdrawal around 2:23 p.m. and reported it to Chillicothe police. The log says the customer was already working with their bank to sort it out, which is exactly the right first call.
For anyone it happens to: stay at the machine and note the time, keep the receipt or the error slip if it prints one, take a photo of the screen, and call the number on the back of your card before you leave the parking lot if you can. Banks can pull the machine’s own records, but the trail is freshest the same day.
