A social media post circulating this week has drawn attention to a registered sex offender residing in a subdivision off U.S. Route 35 near Beatrice Lane in Chillicothe.
According to information shared from the Ohio Attorney General’s sex offender database, Anthony Lee Hopkins is listed as residing at 70 Beatrice Lane in Ross County. The registry identifies Hopkins as a pre-AWA sexual predator and indicates he was convicted in 2004 of rape under Ohio law.
The post, which has generated dozens of comments and reactions online, was shared to alert residents living in the area of the offender’s registered address. The Ohio Attorney General’s website allows residents to search for registered offenders by address and radius, providing information about offenders who are required to register under Ohio law.
Public records displayed on the registry include an offender’s photograph, physical description, conviction information, and registered address. The database is maintained to provide public access to information regarding convicted sex offenders living within communities across the state.
Residents concerned about registered offenders in their area can utilize Ohio’s Electronic Sex Offender Registration and Notification (eSORN) system to search addresses and sign up for email notifications regarding offender registrations and address changes.
Officials remind the public that while registry information is public record, registered offenders who have completed their sentences remain subject to the registration requirements imposed by the courts and Ohio law.
