ROSS COUNTY, Ohio: A man currently serving a six-year prison sentence for strangulation and abduction in Franklin County was booked into the Ross County Jail on October 16, 2026, on a new felony drug-related allegation and an unspecified warrant.

According to Ross County Jail booking records, Jamar M. Long, 24, was booked by the Ross County Sheriff’s Office on a charge of illegal conveyance of drugs of abuse into a detention facility. An additional unspecified warrant was also listed in his booking information.

A review of records maintained by the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction shows that Long was admitted to state prison on August 30, 2024, following convictions in Franklin County for third-degree felony strangulation and third-degree felony abduction.

Court records reflected in the state’s prison database show that Long received a three-year sentence for each offense, ordered to run consecutively, resulting in an aggregate six-year prison sentence. The case was handled by Franklin County Common Pleas Judge Michael Holbrook.

Long’s state prison record identifies the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility as his institution and lists his expected release or parole eligibility date as May 30, 2029. His prison record continues to show his status as incarcerated.

The circumstances surrounding Long’s October 16 booking into the Ross County Jail have not yet been established, including whether the new allegation arose during his incarceration or another custodial transfer.

The new booking comes while Long remains under an existing prison sentence for his previous felony convictions.

Hopewell Heritage Headlines will continue following the case as additional court documents and investigative details become available.

The latest drug-related allegation is not a conviction, and Long is presumed innocent of the new charge unless proven guilty in a court of law.
