The Gallia County Sheriff’s Office has released an update on the ongoing search for 40-year-old Zachary Cline, who was reported missing on June 25, 2026.
According to investigators, deputies and detectives immediately began searching the area around Cline’s last known location on Shoestring Ridge Road after receiving the report. Search efforts included both foot patrols and vehicle patrols while investigators simultaneously pursued technological leads involving cellphone data and social media activity.
The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) assisted the investigation, including the involvement of a criminal intelligence analyst who helped process incoming information and evaluate investigative leads.
On June 26, personnel from the Gallia County Sheriff’s Office and the Harrison Township Volunteer Fire Department conducted an extensive search using ground teams, all-terrain vehicles, and drones. During that operation, investigators reportedly located evidence indicating that Cline may have left the residence and traveled away from the area on foot.
Authorities also followed up on multiple tips from the public, including reports of a possible sighting along State Route 160 in Springfield Township. Investigators reviewed surveillance footage related to those reports but ultimately determined the individual observed was not Cline.
As search efforts continued, a canine search team was deployed on June 29 to examine areas where investigators believed Cline may have traveled based on evidence and information gathered throughout the investigation. Officials described the deployment as a precautionary measure to ensure all reasonable investigative avenues had been explored.
Despite extensive search efforts involving ground crews, drones, technological analysis, and K-9 resources, Cline has not yet been located. Authorities emphasized that the investigation remains active and that all available leads continue to be pursued.
According to the missing person bulletin, Cline is described as a white male, 6 feet 2 inches tall, weighing approximately 215 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. He was last known to be in the Gallipolis area.
Anyone with information regarding Cline’s whereabouts is encouraged to contact the Gallia County Sheriff’s Office at 740-446-1221.
The Sheriff’s Office also asked the public to keep Cline, his family, and friends in their thoughts as the search continues.
